Sherena Hussain is a lawyer and globally recognized expert in infrastructure risk analysis and management. She is CEO of Tecium and an academic in the Brookfield Centre in Real Estate and Infrastructure and training expert for public policy officials across Canada and the globe. Having practiced tax and infrastructure law at a first-tier North American business law firm, McCarthy Tetrault, and as a project legal and procurement associate at Infrastructure Ontario establishing public private partnerships, project financing and new transaction structures to deliver social, civil and energy infrastructure, Sherena is a leader in conducting risk workshops and helping public agencies and institutional investors develop risk management plans in low carbon technologies such as hydrogen.

Sherena has extensive experience in the development of alternative delivery and operational models for infrastructure projects, and in supporting the transition of new technologies to support zero-emission targets within low carbon transport. Sherena’s legal and industry expertise make her well suited to undertake compliance initiatives and establish recommendations for engagements including the financial and technical risks associated with the delivery of zero emission mobility fleet and infrastructure. She is highly effective when translating what this means for different stakeholders through the creation of customized training and manuals. She is regularly retained, evaluates and speaks in a variety of forums, including as an expert for how to manage vehicle pilots for broader deployment success. She is Chair of the Canadian Urban Transit Research and Innovation Council’s Power Providers and Utilities Committee, member of the Hydrogen Economics Working Group for the Canada Hydrogen Business Council, Advisory Academic for the Global Infrastructure Hub’s Sustainable Infrastructure Group, Member of the C40 Cities Clean Bus Academy, and trainer for UiTP, Hydrogen Village, CUTA’s Transit Asset Management and Introduction to Hydrogen Courses as well as for the Global Wind Energy Council, Female Quotient and ULI Toronto in the areas of new energy solutions.
