Yushan Lou (Laria)

Yushan Lou is a Senior Knowledge Analyst at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), specializing in hydrogen and low-carbon fuels with a regional focus on the U.S. and China. She explores the broader implications and intersections of energy, policy, and business impacts in the evolving energy landscape.

Previously, she was a Research Associate at the Center on Global Energy Policy (CGEP) at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), where she conducted policy and technical analyses on hydrogen and low-carbon fuels, particularly their industrial applications in China, Africa, and emerging economies. Before that, she worked with the Carbon Management Research Initiative (CaMRI) at CGEP, researching biohydrogen and carbon-negative hydrogen.

Yushan holds a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University’s SIPA and a Bachelor of Science from Babson College, known for its top-ranking entrepreneurship program. During her graduate studies, she contributed to research on green hydrogen, biohydrogen, and low-carbon fuels for industrial decarbonization. She also supported studies on China’s 14th Five-Year Plan and energy transition policies at Tsinghua University’s Research Center for Energy Transition and Social Development in Beijing.

Beyond her professional work, Yushan is actively involved in youth climate initiatives. She is the youth council member of Shanghai Climate Week and represented China as a youth delegate at COP25.
