Mercy Maina

I am a Kenyan journalist based in Nairobi, working full-time on a publication focused on Africa's green hydrogen sector. My goal is to deliver comprehensive news, data, and insights for industry leaders across the continent.

The Women in Green Hydrogen network is vital because it amplifies the voices of women in a rapidly growing sector that is crucial for the world's energy transition. By fostering connections, sharing knowledge, and promoting visibility, the network helps bridge the gender gap and ensures diverse perspectives shape the future of green hydrogen.

I am a journalist with 7 years of experience in media, covering a wide range of topics, including climate change. In 2025, I shifted my focus to exclusively cover the green hydrogen sector in Africa — a pivotal component of the global energy transition and a key driver of the Paris Agreement's 2050 decarbonization goals. Africa’s vast renewable resources position the continent as a prime hub for green hydrogen production, making it a critical player in this emerging industry. However, coverage of the sector remains limited. To bridge this gap, I run a dedicated green hydrogen publication that provides comprehensive news, data, and insights for leaders across Africa’s green hydrogen ecosystem. I am counting on the expertise of my sisters in green hydrogen to sharpen my experience and deepen my impact in this space.
