Maike Schmidt has studied Energy and Environmental Management at the University of Flensburg. Since 2006 she is part of the scientific staff of the Centre of Solar Energy and Hydrogen-Research Baden-Wuerttemberg (ZSW) in the department of systems analysis. Since November 2014 she is heading this department. Key issues of her scientific work are the analysis of the future capacity potential and market development of renewables, batteries, Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Technologies, Energy scenarios, Market implementation strategies, Design and evaluation of promotion instruments and Politics consulting services.
