Katherine Hurst is a manager and senior scientist at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Her groups focus on the hardware integration of large-scale hydrogen infrastructure and developing new materials development for selective thin films via atomic layer deposition and hydrogen storage.
I am the manager for the Hydrogen Production Power and Storage group at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Our work includes hydrogen infrastructure development including projects such as fast fueling for heavy-duty vehicles and MW fuel cell and electrolyzer, and metal hydride hydrogen storage with renewable energy at the Advance Research on Integrated Energy Systems.
My background and current research include atomic layer deposition for creating selective films used on photocatalysts for H2 production and fuel cell catalysts. Current and past work focuses on the synthesis and characterization of hydrogen storage materials. This includes developing techniques for accurate characterization of hydrogen storage of various materials.
I completed my BS at the University of Puget Sound, MS and PhD at the Colorado School of Mines.
