Energy leader in hydrogen and sustainability
The Women in Green Hydrogen network plays a key role in making the energy transition in Chile and Latin America more inclusive and collaborative. It fosters regional talent, supports knowledge exchange, and helps dismantle structural barriers for women leading innovation in green hydrogen and sustainable technologies.
Dr. Josefa Ibaceta is a Chilean mechanical engineer with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from TU Berlin, specialized in green hydrogen, renewable energy systems, and decarbonization technologies. With over a decade of experience in Chile and Germany, she has led cutting-edge research, strategic consulting, and public-private capacity-building across Latin America. She is currently the General Manager and co-founder of ECIT, a firm focused on bridging critical gaps in hydrogen industry development through technical consulting, R&D, and training.
Dr. Ibaceta has advised major public institutions—including the Chilean Navy, Ministry of Energy, and SEC—on hydrogen regulation, permitting, and maritime decarbonization strategies. Her interdisciplinary work spans from carbon capture and synthetic fuels to system integration and sustainability certification. She has also taught over 180 hours of hydrogen-focused training, contributing to programs in top Chilean universities and Latin American initiatives.
As former director of the Chilean-German scientific network INVECA and current board member of the industrial association H2Chile, and with strong ties to international institutions, she brings deep experience in cross-sectoral collaboration and innovation. Her work is shaping the green hydrogen roadmap in Chile and positioning Latin America as a key player in the global energy transition.
