Gillian Becky is a geologist and climate researcher. My work focuses on professionalizing the artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) sector through mercury-free gold processing, environmental restoration, and access to clean technologies.

As a Bevisioneers Fellow supported by Mercedes-Benz, Gillian is developing solutions that integrate renewable energy and circular economy principles into mining and community livelihoods. My current interests lie in the intersection of earth sciences, clean energy, and hydrogen innovation, exploring how green hydrogen can decarbonize extractive industries, power rural economies, and strengthen Africa’s transition toward sustainable energy systems.

She has experience in environmental consulting, project management, and research across geology, water resource management, and climate adaptation. Gillian is passionate about fostering partnerships that link science, technology, and social impact to build resilient, inclusive energy futures in Africa.
