Mahdieh Safyari

Dr. Mahdieh Safyari is an Assistant Professor at Tampere University, Finland, and a recipient of a highly prestigious Academy Research Fellowship. Her research focuses on hydrogen–material interactions, durability, and structural integrity of advanced metallic systems, including materials used in hydrogen pipelines and transport infrastructure. Her main expertise includes: hydrogen embrittlement; corrosion; hydrogen trapping and diffusion experiments; thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS); high-pressure hydrogen testing; simulation and modeling of diffusion and trapping; mechanical properties; fatigue and failure analysis; high-strength alloys; steels; nickel alloys; aluminum alloys; pipeline materials and hydrogen transport systems; creep and cold/hot rolling deformation; solid-state phase transformation; dislocation characterization; advanced characterization techniques based on numerical calculations for quantifying deformation; environmentally sensitive fracture; materials characterization; sustainable materials science; and microstructure–durability relationships.

Tampere

A specialist in the field of hydrogen embrittlement, materials, corrosion science, and the mechanical behavior of materials. She earned a Ph.D. in materials science and Energy from Tohoku University, Japan, in March 2022 at Prof. Akiyama's research laboratory under the support of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and the Japan light metal society.
